So I came from Wayne Hills. It's been the third morning in a row that I've been there this early. I talked to my guidance counselor, hopefully for the last time before school starts. I wanted to ask her something about weighted courses and their bearing on my current GPA, but she decided to go ahead and not really answer my question. She also gave me this stupid math packet and a reading assignment. I'm at the library now, and after having received a library card, I decided to post some groundbreaking info I picked up at the school before I go and attempt to hunt down a copy of The Man Who Ate the 747.

When I met Mr. Santangelo in a hallway, I spoke to him and it went a little something like this...

Tom: You're Mr. Santangelo?
Santangelo: Yes, I am.
Tom: Is that your livejournal I saw, or is someone just badly impersonating you?
Santangelo: My what?
Tom: Your livejournal.
Santangelo:
Tom: Exactly.

I decided I'd try and find Mr. Dorflinger, too, but the woman in the office said that he was in Pennsylvania. Remembering that he allegedly owns that shop over there, I've decided to call and see if I can speak to him. I remember the number being on that poorly done site of his.

Edit: I just called the number from a payphone, asked for Donald, and posed as a newspaper reporter doing an article on online journals and blogs. He confirmed that he had never even heard of livejournal or anything similar.

I think Fletch would be proud.

And now allow me to introduce myself Jul. 15th, 2004 @ 03:56 pm
Okay. I wondered a lot before I moved about how I would introduce myself to those who I would hope to eventually be my friends in my new home town. I guess I should start by telling everyone about myself and my life back in Indiana.

Well, like I said in my last post, my name is Tom Chamberlain, and I come from Edinburgh. My birthday is August 14, 1988, making me fifteen years old, but almost sixteen.

I'm moving because of my father's job transfer. He works as a corporate lawyer for some conglomerate that I can hardly pronounce, much less spell. Anyway, a nice size faction of Edinburgh's population works for the same conglomerate, and my father isn't the only employee they've transfered to their East Coast offices. As a matter of fact, my last girlfriend and I were forced to end our relationship after her mother was transfered a few months ago. I still miss my Becca, but we've decided to continue our friendship minus the going out. She now lives in Boston.

I suppose my lack of heartbreak over having moved has to do with this lack of attachment to my birth place. I only had one real friend, Will Dyre. He's the only person or thing that I will miss in Edinburgh, Indiana.

All in all, I don't really consider moving that much of a tragedy. It's more of a challenge.

I look forward to going to parties and making new friends...hopefully before the beginning of my junior school year at my new school, Wayne Hills. Which reminds me, I talked to some guidance counselor about enrollment two days ago, and I got to pick up my schedule this morning.

My schedule )

I hope I get a chance to meet some of the people in my classes...particularly Lunch. I'd hate to have to sit alone on my first day.

So. What does everyone do for fun in this town?

First post. Jul. 15th, 2004 @ 10:46 am
Hello. My name is (Sir) Thomas Chamberlain, and I'm new 'round these parts.

My family and I just moved here from a relatively small town in Indiana called Edinburgh. It's a highly diverse metropolis with a population bordering on 5000 and a staggering minority population numbering in the teens. I'm not quite sure what to expect of New Jersey.

Although this is my first livejournal, I had heard that some back in Edinburgh had them. After some quick searching, I found the community [info]waynenj and learned that quite a few people keep an eye on it. I'll probably try to make a post introducing myself there later...
